The series revolves around the scientists of NorBAC (North American Biotechnology Advisory Commission), a fictional organisation based in Toronto. A world-leading molecular biologist and rogue scientist David Sandström (Peter Outerbridge), leads a team of renowned scientists, including Rachel Woods (Wendy Crewson). Sandström and his team research dangerous and threatening cases involving deadly new strains of HIV, mutant bacterium, bio-terrorism and atmospheric pollution that, if left unsolved, could wreak havoc on a global scale. Each week, the scientists face challenging scenarios NorBAC may not be able to control.
The Ontario Genomics Institute has provided Scientific Fact sheets to accompany each episode. We have listed them by season, with the title of the show and the question discussed in the fact sheet. For seasons 3 & 4, they have introduced a companion series called ReGenesis: Science & Society, which explores ethical and social issues that arise in each episode.
