Genome BC is proud to present "Genomics To Go", a portable educational display designed for use by educational groups, schools and community organizations to learn more about genomics, genetic disease and heredity. This 'exhibit in a box' delivers multimedia activities, information and props for your group or class to fully explore, engage and learn about the world of genomics.
This resource is available at no charge (including shipping) to groups within the province of British Columbia.
We have two different displays available:
- A Crash Course in Genomics Suitcase (2 available)
This suitcase explores the world of genetics and genomics. With the help of interactive activities, colourful text panels, fun computer games and 3‐D models, you will learn about your genome, find out about proteins and understand genetic mutations and heredity.
This suitcase weighs 34 kg (74 lb.), and when set up the contents occupy approximately two tabletops.
- Genetic Diseases and Heredity Suitcase (1 available)
This suitcase helps answer the questions “What is a genetic disease?” and “How do we inherit diseases?” With the help of interactive activities, colourful text panels, fun computer games and 3‐D models, you will learn about different types of human genetic diseases and their inheritance patterns. You'll also read about some of the amazing research Canadian scientists are doing to understand these diseases and discover new treatments and cures.
This suitcase weighs 27 kg (60 lb.), and when set up the contents occupy approximately two tabletops.
