Dr. Catherine Anderson is a key member of the team that designs and delivers a multi-faceted education outreach program at Genome BC. Dr. Anderson’s goal, in her role as senior Genome Education Specialist, is to further the understanding of genomic technologies and data for everyone, from children to experts. The education outreach activities created and supported by Genome BC foster open and knowledgeable discussion about the science of genomics and its associated societal benefits and risks.

In addition to fulfilling speaking engagements for a broad variety of audiences: from high school students to the general public to scientists Dr. Anderson founded Geneskool, a non-profit educational program dedicated to providing participants with hands on opportunities to investigate the world of genetics.

In addition to her role at Genome BC, Dr. Anderson is a Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Anderson received her PhD in Medical Genetics at UBC in 2002, where she studied the maintenance of gene silencing in humans. Dr. Anderson then completed a Post Doctoral position in reproductive health, examining chromosome abnormalities in pre-eclampsia and was awarded the first annual Nelly Auersperg Award, given to a 'promising researcher in the field of women's health'.
